Data loss is one of the greatest risks to business success. Whether it’s from malicious activities like hackers or rogue employees, or accidents like a misconfiguration or deletion, more than 73% of data loss originates internally.
And just how damaging can a data loss or corruption event be to your organization? Recent reports show that:
As it is your responsibility to protect and secure your own Salesforce data, you must find the right solution to protect your data from a disaster (regardless of the source of loss). More on that…
We talk about this a lot here at Odaseva, because customers of SaaS platforms don’t always realize that they are responsible for protecting their organization’s SaaS data – not the platform. A 2022 survey of enterprise executives and managers with decision-making responsibility for SaaS data found that 25% mistakenly believed it wasn’t their responsibility to protect their SaaS data.
Take Salesforce for example – like most SaaS platforms, Salesforce embraces a ‘shared responsibility’ model. This means that Salesforce is responsible for the security and integrity of their platform, but that Salesforce’s customers are responsible for securing and managing the data generated.
And at the enterprise level, where SaaS data is mission-critical to business operations, it is paramount to identify and implement the right solutions for securing that data. That means a solution that not only backs up critical data frequently to minimize the risk of data being lost, but also ensures that this data can be recovered without error.
After all, backups are only useful if the backed up data can be restored. At Odaseva we call this “Prove your Recovery.” Let’s dive deeper into what that means.
Start by asking, are you recovery ready… or just backed up? There’s quite a difference between the two.
The following should be considered after data is backed up, but before a loss or corruption takes place:
